After a two-year Covid hiatus, the Team Challenge returns even bigger and better than ever. Open to all boardrider clubs, it will showcase the South Coast’s best surfing talent and any other willing challengers!
FORMAT: A dynamic one-day event will combine a Tag Team battle plus an Individual show down featuring each club’s best surfer to determine the overall winners on the day. Heats, semis and final for both formats.
Over $5000* in prizes $2000 for the winning club, $1500 for 2nd and $1000 for 3rd
LOCATION: North Shellharbour Beach is the likely location but if there’s enough swell we’ll switch to the epic Cowries Island nearby. The Farm in Killalea Regional Park – National Surfing Reserve is also a back-up option. The location will be confirmed very early on the contest day on the Southbridge Facebook and Instagram pages @southbridgeboardriders
COMPETITION RULES: Each Club team must have 5 tag-team competitors as follows:
1 x 16 years – boy or girl (must be 16 or under on the day of the event)
1 x 20 years – boy or girl (must be 20 or under on the day of the event)
1 X Open – male or female (any age)
1 X Over 35 – male or female (must be 35 or older on the day of the event)
1 X Female – any age (compulsory)
The best surfer from each team will also compete in the Individual. All competitors must be a member of a boardriders club.

ENTRY FEE: $250 per team via the Surfing NSW events website – choose ‘Book as Individual’ to book a team of 5 surfers. ENTRIES CLOSE on Saturday 12 November.
START TIME: The Team Challenge will start at 7am sharp on Saturday 19 November
HEAT DRAW: The heat draw will be released on the Southbridge social pages two days before the contest.

MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT: The surf comp will include a DJ set. Party on after at the harbour main stage with a bunch of bands including the feel-good, rock n roll energy of headline act PACIFIC AVENUE.
